Rise to Prominence
The favorite subject and diligence that Nathan devoted to paid off since he immediately climbed the popularity ranking and occupied one of the places in the canoeing competition. Later in the late 1990’s this gifted man imposed himself in the annals of Australian canoeism. His big start in international competition happened in the year 2003 when he got 2 gold medals in the ICF Cano Sprint World Championships held in Gainesville, USA.
Nathan Baggaley competed in Internationals for the first time in Canoeing in Australia in 1997. He was able to compete in the 2000 Sydney Olympics in the K1 500-meter event and only got to the semi-finals. He is considered to be one of the most successful canoeists in the world after Sydney and rose to triumphant glory.
During the Athina Olympics, he was outranked by Adam van Koeverden of Canada and won a silver medal. However, in 2005, he won his third World Championship in the event as revenge for van Koeverden, who finished in third place. Baggaley even won Bronze in the K1-1000 in the same year.
